The French General Directorate for Competition Policy, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF) has ordered Amazon to review some of its general terms and conditions applicable to its amazon.fr selling partners.
We will comply with the DGCCRF’s decision but we do not in any way understand the reasoning behind it. We are contesting this decision and have filed an action for annulment before the Tribunal administratif de Paris (Paris administrative court). The general terms and conditions applicable to our marketplace are designed to prevent misuse and are essential for consumer trust, which is key to the success of our selling partners.
Supporting small and medium businesses is central to what we do at Amazon. They currently represent over 50% of everything sold via our online stores, and we are continually looking for new ways to help them grow their businesses. We will continue to work hard, to invest heavily and to invent new tools and services to help our selling partners around the world to serve their customers and to grow their businesses, all while protecting the trust of our customers and safeguarding their experience. This is what we do every day.
