Manage SKUs in business pricing rules using Regional Automate Pricing file

Note: Individual sellers: This feature is available to sellers with Professional selling plans.

You can now apply or remove SKUs in multiple marketplaces in the same region from Automate Pricing rules using the Regional Automate Pricing file template after you have created your rule in the Automate Pricing tool. You can manage up to 30,000 SKUs per a 24-hour period. There is no limit on the number of files you can submit. As soon as the feed begins processing, the rule you set will be applied to your SKUs, and Automate Pricing will adjust your price accordingly to both the minimum price and maximum price value entered by you.

The Automate Pricing file enables you to:

  • Assign SKUs in multiple marketplaces to a pricing rule.
  • Upload modifications to your minimum price, maximum price, and assigned automated pricing rule.
  • Start or stop running automated pricing on a rule.
  • Onboard hundreds or thousands of SKUs to Automate Pricing at the same time without the hassle of being restricted to up to 100 SKUs at a time in the Automate Pricing user interface.
Note: The Automate Pricing file is available to upload as a .txt file.

You can refer to the Sample tab in the Automate Pricing file to learn how to enter details in the file.

  1. Create your rule in the Automate Pricing tool. Learn more about how to Create a pricing rule.
  2. Download the Regional Automate Pricing file template from the Download Center.
  3. Enter the SKUs you want to automate.
  4. For each SKU, enter your minimum item price and verify that this value is not less than the price mentioned in the minimum-seller-allowed-price field. This will ensure Automate Pricing does not price your item below this value.
  5. Next, enter your maximum item price and verify that this value does not exceed the price mentioned in the maximum-seller-allowed-price field. This will ensure Automate Pricing does not price the item above this value.
  6. Enter the country-code for the regions in which the SKU is listed.
    Note: The country code is a two-letter code. Example values for the code are US, CA, and MX.
  7. Enter the currency code for the country in which the SKU is listed.
  8. Enter the rule name in verbatim from the rule you set in the Automate Pricing tool. You can even copy and paste the rule from the tool. Enter the Competitive or Sales-based rules on consumer prices in the rule-name field. For Business pricing rules, enter the details in the business-rule-name field.
  9. To assign the SKU to a repricing rule, enter START in the rule-action or business-rule-action (in the case of business pricing rules) field.
  10. To assign the SKU to Automate Pricing, enter the SKU, minimum price, maximum price, country and currency code, rule name, and START in the rule-action field. This is the same process as moving a SKU from one rule to another.
  11. To remove a SKU from Automate Pricing, enter the SKU, country-code and STOP in the rule-action field. If you happen to mention any values in the other fields, such as a minimum and maximum price, these will be ignored by the system.
  12. To edit minimum and maximum price, retain the same SKU, marketplace, country and currency code, rule name, and START in the rule-action field, and then adjust your minimum and maximum price values.
  13. Go to the Automate Pricing Template tab and save the it in the UTF-8 text format.
  14. If you are using Windows, select Save As and follow the below mentioned steps:
    1. Select the Save As type box and choose the Unicode Text (*.txt) option
    2. Click Tools and Web Options.
    3. Click Encoding. In the Save this document as box, select Unicode (UTF-8).
    4. Open the file you have saved in Notepad.
    5. Go to File > Save As to save the file.
    6. In the Encoding box, select UTF-8.
  15. For Mac, follow these steps:
    1. Go to File > Save As and select UTF-16 Unicode Text (.txt) under Specialty Formats.
    2. Open the file you have saved in Text Edit and click File > Duplicate to save the file.
    3. In the Plain Text Encoding box, select Unicode (UTF-8).
  16. Save the changes, upload the file and follow these steps:
    1. Go to Pricing > Automate Pricing .
    2. Click Edit SKUs for the rule that you have created.
    3. Select the Manage SKUs via file upload option and choose the Upload Center tab.
    4. In the Upload Automated Pricing File section, click Browse and select the tab-delimited file (.txt) created earlier.
    5. Click Upload Automate Pricing File. Once you have uploaded the file, a status box will confirm the file was received.

Fields in the Automate Pricing file

If you are assigning a SKU to a rule, or adjusting a SKU already associated with a rule, the sku, minimum-seller-allowed-price, maximum-seller-allowed-price, country-code, currency-code, rule-name, and rule-action fields are mandatory. If you are removing a SKU from the rule, the sku, country-code and rule-action field (with STOP mentioned) are required.

SKU

This field SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) is used to track inventory. You must provide a SKU in your Price & Quantity file.

minimum-seller-allowed-price

This field is mandatory when running an Automate Pricing rule on a SKU, and ensures that Automate Pricing keeps the value above the minimum item price set by you. If you attempt to set the price for your product below the minimum allowed price threshold, your offer will become inactive and Amazon will notify you via an email.

To make changes to your minimum allowable price, modify the value in this field and upload the updated file. If you enter "STOP" in the rule-action field, your minimum price will remain unchanged and we will only remove the SKU.

Note: To remove the minimum price value for an item, use the Price & Quantity file, enter the value 'delete' in this field. If you include this field but do not provide a value for your item, no change will be made to your existing minimum price value.

country-code

This field tracks the various countries in which the SKU is listed. To identify the correct country, provide the two-letter code. Examples are US, CA, and MX.

currency-code

This field denotes the currency used in the country of the SKU. Examples of valid values for currency are USD for US marketplace, CAD for CA marketplace, and MXN for MX marketplace.

maximum-seller-allowed-price

This field is mandatory when running an Automate Pricing rule on a SKU, and it ensures that Automate Pricing keeps the value of your item below the maximum allowed price threshold. If you attempt to set your price for the product above the value of the maximum allowable price, your offer will become inactive and you will be notified via an email.

To make changes to your maximum allowable price, modify the value in this field and upload the updated file. If you enter "STOP" in the rule-action field, your maximum price will remain unchanged and we will only remove the SKU.

Note: To remove the maximum price value for an item, use the Price & Quantity file, enter the value 'delete' in this field. Do not enter "0" or other numeric values. If you include this field but do not provide a value for an item, no change will be made to your existing maximum price value.

rule-name

This field assigns your SKU to the Automate Pricing rule you choose. To assign a rule, choose the name of the rule you created using the Automate Pricing tool. To avoid errors, copy and paste the rule name from the tool. Do not use symbols in the rule name.

rule-action

This field allows you to start or stop repricing on your rule. To start repricing a SKU, enter START in this field after you have entered appropriate values in the SKU, minimum price, maximum price, and rule name fields. To stop repricing a SKU, enter STOP after you have specified the SKU name. If you happen to mention any values in the other fields, such as a minimum and maximum price, these will be ignored by the system. For more information on these fields, see the Data Definitions tab of the Automate Pricing file.

business-rule-name

For Amazon Business sellers, this field assigns your SKU to the business pricing rule you choose. To assign a business pricing rule, choose the name of the rule you created using the Automate Pricing tool. To avoid errors, copy and paste the rule name from the tool and do not use symbols. If you utilize Automate Pricing to manage both your standard and business prices, ensure you are copying over the business pricing rule name only.

business-rule-action

This field allows you to start or stop repricing on the business pricing rule you select. To start repricing a SKU, enter START in this field after you have entered the SKU, minimum price, maximum price, and business pricing rule name in the respective fields. To stop repricing a SKU, enter STOP in this field after you have specified the SKU name. If you happen to mention any values in the other fields, such as a minimum and maximum price, these will be ignored by the system. Troubleshooting

This section describes the ways in which you can troubleshoot some of the common errors you may find when using the Automate Pricing file.

Missing information

Enter a valid value for all the fields. If you enter an invalid input (for example, an invalid SKU, a character in the min/max price field, invalid rule name, or input besides START or STOP in the rule-action field), then the row will remain unprocessed.

Invalid minimum or maximum price

We run validations on minimum and maximum prices in Automate Pricing. If your minimum or maximum prices are outside of the accepted threshold, then the row will not be processed. Learn more about Minimum and Maximum price validation.

Exceed row limit

The Automate Pricing file supports up to 5,000 rows per upload. If you happen to input more than 5,000 rows, all rows beyond 5,000 rows will not be processed.

The Automate Pricing file supports up to 30,000 rows per upload. If you happen to input more than 30,000 rows, all rows beyond 30,000 rows will not be processed.

Pause due to manual update

You can now choose to continue repricing or pause repricing after submitting a manual price update. To learn more, refer to Continue or Pause Repricing After Manual Price update.

Note: Business Pricing is paused only after submitting Business Price or Quantity Discount manually.
